Maakatte kõrgusmudeli loomise aluseks olevad kõrguspunktid on kogutud aerolaserskaneerimise vahendusel. Mõõdistused on teostatud LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) seadmega ALS50-II (aastatel 2008-2016) ja Riegl VQ-1560i (alates 2016). Väiksema lahutusega mudelid on loodud suurema (täpsema) lahutusega mudelite alusel.
